Pilanesberg is a natural ecosystem, arisen over hundreds of thousands of years, and we are so privileged to be able to experience the many qualities of this unique park

Pilanesberg National Park (1 night at a 4* hotel)

Pilanesberg is situated on the border between the dry Kalahari Desert and more humid Bosveld vegetation, and unlike any other park this gives a unique mixture of mammals, birds and vegetation.

Springbuck, brown hyena, red eyed bulbul and Camel thorn trees (Acacia erioloba), which are normally found in dry areas, can be seen side by side with black eyed bulbul, impalas and South African chestnut trees (calodendrum capense), that are normally found in humid areas in the east.

The fascinating combination of geology, landscape and amount of rain lead to different forms of vegetation: Widespred, open grass steppes, steep mountain hillsides, rock formations and canyons with dense forest vegetation.

There is more than 132 tree species and at least 68 grass species plus a large diversity of animal species, from the Big Five (lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards and rhinos) to 50 other large mammals, 354 species of birds, 65 reptile species, 18 amphibian species and thousands of other interesting smaller animals.
